121gr 9mm Selous Ammunition (20 Rounds)

For the past nine years Discreet Ballistics has been focused on producing the most effective subsonic centerfire rifle ammunition available. The thought of producing defensive handgun ammunition was never a consideration until recently. We began observing a trend in modern handgun terminal ballistics which places more value on penetration at the expense of projectile expansion. This trend runs counter to what we have been observing in our live tissue tests over the years; namely that large expansion with adequate penetration generates quicker incapacitation.

Enter our new 121gr Selous 9mm loads. This defensive handgun ammunition uses a brand new projectile that was developed using the same proprietary technology we use in our subsonic rifle ammunition. Built into the machined solid copper projectile is a hinge mechanism which ensures large expansion in tissue while maintaining its structural integrity through barriers such as fabric, drywall, and auto glass.

We are offering the new 121gr Selous 9mm loads in P, +P and +P+ loadings. All 9mm ammunition will be loaded using NAS3 hybrid cases. Estimated full size pistol (Glock 17 and equivalents) muzzle velocity is as follows:

P loading – 1150FPS
+P loading – 1200FPS
+P+ loading – 1250FPS

The following is a guide for which product to choose.

P is the standard pressure cartridge. Use these if you are running a full size pistol like a Glock 17. Muzzle velocity should be around 1150-1200 in full size guns. This is sufficient for full expansion in vital organs in typical self defense scenarios.

+P is one step up from P. Use +P if you are running a shorter barrel compact or sub-compact pistol like the Glock 43X. This will keep muzzle velocity in the 1150-1200 fps area in these smaller guns, and faster in longer barrels.

+P+ is the highest pressure offering. Use this pressure in a larger frame gun like a Glock 34, 2011 or a PCC. We have seen muzzle velocities above 1300fps out of PCCs. For those interested in hunting with the 121gr Selous 9mm, this is the loading for you.
